What is your "why"?

By now, many of you have already broken your New Year’s resolution. It’s inevitable because we are human. I know there are some of you that are troopers and sticking to it. Congratulations! I pray (honestly) for your willpower. Improving your diet or mindless social media scrolling are positive changes. However as soon as we see that ice cream (my weakness) or look at the instagram post that popped up on our screen, we end up giving in and giving up. Maybe the problem is not our willpower, but our stubbornness to do it alone. We weren’t meant to journey through this life alone. God always walks with us. Are you walking with Him? Perhaps this year your resolution could be making God the priority in your life. Consider this: all gifts come from Him…your spouse, family, children, job, health, strength. Put Him first and give Him thanks. Everything we think, do, and say needs to be to further His kingdom here on earth.  You have probably seen many articles asking about your “why”....

Respect all Life

October is Respect Life Month, a time when the Catholic Church in the United States invites us to reflect more deeply on the sacredness of every human life. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable from the very beginning of life to its natural end, and at every moment in between. It’s easy to say, “Yes, I respect life,” but the true challenge is to live that belief daily.  This month, I encourage you to put those words into action:  Pray for the unborn and for couples struggling with infertility. Donate to organizations that support parents courageously choosing life.  Serve the poor, the homeless, the immigrant, and those living with mental illness.  Support families affected by addiction, and reach out to those suffering silently from depression, grief, or loneliness.  Accompany the elderly and those nearing the end of life, offering comfort, peace, and presence.  In a world flooded with “perfect” images o...
